Heartland Farm is our small family farm. We have chickens to feed, eggs to gather, sweet animals who need our care, and beautiful land all around us. Life here is simple, and simple things matter. Taking care of chickens and helping with farm work teach kids so much.

How the Books Began
I started writing these books to remember how our girls were growing beautifully on our farm. I loved watching them choose the right thing, even in the hard moments. I wanted other kids to see themselves in these stories, so they would know they can pick the right thing too, even when it is hard.

Meet Addie and Gabbie
Addie and Gabbie are based on my own two daughters. Each girl is made in her own special way. We teach character to each of them in a way that fits her, to help her become the truest and best version of herself, who she was made to be.

Growing Crops and Character
Growing crops and growing character both take time! Plants grow stronger when they make it through wind and storms, and kids do too. Crops need water, sunshine, and rich soil. Kids need those things in their own way: the water of Mom and Dad's words, the sunshine of a joyful life, and deep roots at home.

A Little Love Note
Every story ends with a poem. At the end of each poem, I say the same words I tell my girls when I tuck them into bed: always remember and never forget that I love you. Now those words are for your little ones too.
